Another cyclone blew through Morristown ahead of Hurricane Sandy: Newark Mayor Cory Booker touched down on the historic Green on Saturday to rally the Democratic troops for next week’s election.

The Newark Mayor, who was welcomed to town by Morristown Mayor Tim Dougherty, launched a stemwinder that managed to work in Martin Luther King, Frederick Douglass and Michael Jackson— Mitt Romney’s favorite pop star, according to Cory.

“Mitt Romney’s favorite rock star is Michael Jackson. Why? Because Mitt Romney loves to do the moonwalk. I’ve never seen a guy who wants to seem like he’s going forward but is so much about going backward,” Cory Booker told a small but enthusiastic crowd of Democratic supporters.

MorristownGreen.com contributor Bill Lescohier shot this great video of the whole speech, and photos of Democratic candidates, including John Arvanites, running for Congress in Morris County, and Ron Goldberg, seeking a committee seat in Morris Township.

  1. Ironic, considering MJ supported Obama in 2008 and cried “happy tears” when he won.

MJ also was a supporter of Bill Clinton and donated a lot of money to his reelection campaign in the ’90s.

Pretty sure the King of Pop wouldn’t be a fan of yours, Mittens!

    =P

  2. What a huge insult to Michael Jackson. Michael Jackson was a creative genius, a expert in the fields of singing, songwriting, directing, leading, dancing, and studying his craft and his art. He worked tirelessly to help people all over the world. He has inspired and influenced millions of people all over the world through his music and his generosity. He has given away more money to charity then MItt Romney is worth! Michael Jackson spent the last 5 years of his life raising his children and creating his own sculptures, drawings, paintings, watercolors and sketches. He was well read in psychology, classical music, literature, philosophy, art, and cultures. He was a good will ambassador to the world.

Michael Jackson lived his life to the fullest of his potential.

Mitt Romney says despicable things about American’s, gay people, and women. He is so vacuous that its impossible to figure out where he stands and who he is. He has lied and pandered his way through a political and business career, not caring who he pushed aside along the way. Mitt Romney does not in any way deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as Michael Jackson.

  3. what does Michael jackson have to do with this? why would this dude put a huge iconic super star who has helped millions of people all over the world in a debate that has nothing to do with what music these 2 candidates like? who cares if Mitt romney likes Michael Jackson, he’s got good taste in music i guess.. seriously what a dumb article.
