Sunday, Feb. 12, is your once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet our very own Commander in Chief—our 16th one, that is.
In celebration of Abraham Lincoln’s 203rd birthday, the Macculloch Hall Historical Museum will be hosting “President Lincoln,” portrayed by Civil War reenactor Bob Costello.
Honest Abe will be available from 1 to 4 p.m., answering questions and posing for pictures as part of the museum’s Gone for a Soldier: Jerseymen in the Civil War exhibit.

Abe Lincoln, a.k.a. Robert Costello, will pay a visit to Macculloch Hall in Morristown on Feb. 12.
Staged in conjunction with the New Jersey Civil War Sesquicentennial Committee, the exhibition commemorates our fellow Jerseyans who sacrificed their lives during one of our country’s most turbulent times.
More than 200 wartime artifacts from 30 different museums and historical societies offer visitors a unique chance to see how the Civil War was fought and won with help from the Garden State.
Lindley Hoffman Miller, son of U.S. Senator Jacob Miller and grandson of George and Louisa Macculloch, led the First Regiment of Arkansas Volunteers of African Descent. His exploits were chronicled in wartime correspondence with his family. Those letters are on display to show a New Jersey native’s active role in the Union victory.
Additionally, visitors can view the country’s largest collection of originals by Thomas Nast, the famous Civil War-era political cartoonist for Harper’s Weekly. The museum also is offering a monthly lecture series, Freedom to All, NJ Black Troops in the Civil War, presented by Joe Bilby starting on Feb. 22.
Macculloch Hall, at 45 Macculloch Ave., is open Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. General Admission is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and students, and $4 for children aged 6 to 12. Members and children under 5 are admitted free. For more information, call weekdays at 973-538-2404.
