Video: Holiday music in Morristown–who knew harp can swing?

Who knew harp can swing?

Merynda Adams, obviously, as she demonstrates in this bouncy version of Go Tell It On the Mountain.

The Madison resident got the Music at Noon  series off to a festive start Thursday at the Morristown United Methodist Church with a selection of Christmas carols from around the world.

Afterward, Merynda fielded questions about her instrument (answers: 48 strings, 75 pounds, wheels)  from students of Michael Russo, director of the Morristown High School Colonials Marching Band.

A graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, Merynda teaches at Drew University, has played extensively across the U.S. and Europe and frequently appears with violinist Christopher Collins Lee and soprano Aprile Millo.

The harpist returns to Morristown on Dec. 10 (8 pm)  and Dec. 11 (3 pm) with the Harmonium Choral Society, performing Carols and Lullabies of the Southwest at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.

Music at Noon resumes on Dec. 8 with pianist Rio Clemente and on Dec. 15 with the Christmas Singers.

Music at Noon is sponsored this month by Jane Rehmke and Lee Schubert, and by the Arts Council of the Morris Area through the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts. For a limited time only. CDs sold separately. Your mileage may vary.
