A garden party highlights the organic vision of Grow It Green Morristown

1

Lots of people have dreams. But how many of us make them come true… twice?

Three remarkable women transformed their vision for a healthier, happier Morristown into Grow It Green Morristown, a nonprofit that flowered last year with the Community Garden on Early Street.

Carolle Huber, Samantha Rothman and Myra Bowie-McCready wrote an even more ambitious second act. Their Urban Farm at Lafayette sprouted this spring in a former playground.

It’s a place where schoolkids–and anyone else–can come to learn how to grow food organically.  The Interfaith Food Pantry and Market Street Mission have been beneficiaries of the Urban Farm’s crops. And volunteers have benefited from the community spirit that has grown in both gardens.

Last night, the Grow It Green girls threw a party to benefit Grow It Green. “Alfresco in the Garden” featured great food from Nomad Pizza and The Artist Baker, organic coffee from Smart World, and organic music from The Catbirds. Plants and trees and garden plots were auctioned. The Mayor stopped by.

Everyone wore broad, ear-to-ear smiles.

Nice going, Ladies. Can’t wait to see your third act!

  1. I’m so proud of Morristown residents, Carolle, Samantha and Myra, who were able to see beyond the politics and put their energy into such worthwhile endeavors. Morristown is so fortunate to have people like this, who instead of complaining just roll up their sleeves to make things better.

Plus it sure looks as though all their supporters were having a lot of fun. Truly a fun, fund raiser.
