More than one-third of Copenhagen commuters pedal to work, and the streets even have special lights at intersections that warn motorists when cyclists are approaching.

It’s also possible, with a little poetic license, to rhyme courier with girlier.

These are just a few of the fun factoids we learned at Saturday night’s kickoff of Bike-o-Rama.

MorristownGreen.com contributor Kendra Arnold got her week-long bike fest rolling with a pleasant ride to Macculloch Hall, followed by an evening of biking shorts (of the cinematic variety) at the Community Garden on Early Street.

The movies, from the Filmed by Bike festival in Portland, Ore., included a video about cycle-crazy Copenhagen and a highly entertaining rap number from Robin Moore called Performance. (See above.)

Tonight’s “Meatless Monday” ride starts at 7 at Greenberry’s and goes to Carmel Haifa in Morris Plains for hummus and falafel.

“Tuesday Cruiseday” starts at Tito’s Burrito’s at 6 pm.

On Wednesday it’s the “Fall Equinox Adventure Ride,”  at 7 pm from the Fountain on the Morristown Green.

Bike-o-Rama culminates Friday at 6:30 pm at Marty’s Reliable Cycle on Speedwell Avenue with the Art of the Bicycle Show.
