What, exactly, is longboarding?
You could toss out words like “surfing,” “gliding” or even “beautiful.” But a picture is worth a thousand words, and a video is even better.
Connor Bosworth’s short video, Time Has Flown, is a gorgeous introduction to the sport. It premieres Friday at the Third Annual MorristownGreen.com Film Festival.
Longboarding is not to be confused with skateboarding, according to Connor, a recent Morristown High School graduate.
Skateboarding is about tricks and stunts. A longboard resembles a miniature surfboard on wheels, and the goal is a consistent, surf-like glide.
“I can’t skateboard for my life,” Connor said, “but longboarding and skate boarding are different. I’ve never really tried surfing either, but I skim board. So I guess some of those skills come in handy.”

Connor’s pals turned him onto longboarding a year ago. They often make videos of their adventures; when Connor heard about the Film Fest, he decided to gather his friends and camcorders once more.
The video features Connor’s friends David Cariello, Derek Anton, Jeremy Darrell, Evan Anton, Tommy Rawding and Sean Connelly.
EJ Enright, one of the festival’s music contributors and Connor’s good friend, also was in the video, so the guys chose to use his song Time Has Flown.
Although Connor has lived in Morristown his entire life, his video was filmed all over New Jersey and the U.S. Some scenes were filmed in Morristown and Jockey Hollow; others were in Oregon and Long Beach Island.
Connor is attending Montclair State University this fall to study film making, a decision prompted by his film classes at the high school.
He recalled being fortunate enough to be paired with an excellent partner in class, and how he enjoyed seeing their original movie script and frames become a finished product.
“As a kid you always have different ideas of what you want to be, and I was like that. I didn’t have anything completely laid out, and I still don’t. But my classes at Morristown definitely helped point me in the direction of film making,” said Connor.
Besides film making, Connor likes to play the guitar, listen to music, watch movies and play video games. About his movie, he said, “I had a great time making it, and I hope everyone watching enjoys it, too.”
Nayna Shah will be a sophomore at Morristown High School this fall. The Third Annual MorristownGreen.com Film Fest kicks off around 6:30 pm on Friday, on the lawn of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Morristown. Admission is free. The popular kids band Boys Nyte will perform, with home-grown movies to follow at dusk. The audience will vote for Best Picture. If it rains, the show will move into the church hall.
