Morris Township’s committee has voted against seeking grant money to buy a Harding Township property off Mount Kemble Avenue for use as athletic fields, reports The Daily Record.
The vote was 2-2, with Committeeman Ron Goldberg absent, according to the paper.
Harding officials and residents largely opposed Morris Township’s plans to install lights, a food stand and artificial turf.
Morris Township Deputy Mayor Dan Caffrey told the paper:
…it made little sense to seek land for a field that would not have turf and would be located in “a town that doesn’t want us.” He added that without lights, the teams could not play night games.
