We always liked the New Jersey Symphony. But we appreciate these musicians even more after their concert at the Giralda 2010 Music and Arts Festival on Sunday.
It was scorching in the shade. Pro ballplayers might have wilted in such heat. Yet the symphony gave energetic performances of Gounod, Mozart and Donizetti, along with show tunes, movie favorites and patriotic numbers. Opera New Jersey soloists Matthew Boehler, Inna Dukach, Andrew Garland and Corinne Schaefer sounded note-perfect.
Congratulations to them, and to the Arts Council of the Morris Area for an entertaining summer program on the rolling lawn of Madison’s Giralda Farms.
